If I buy one of the combined sets, are the words from all levels mixed together, or is it 4 distinct levels?

It is distinct levels.

If you buy a combined set (JLPT 1 and 2 for example), you can download the individual levels seperately.

Do individual sets contain the vocabulary for lower levels?

No. For example, The JLPT3 set does not contain JLPT4 words.

However you can buy a combined set if you want the words for multiple levels.

When you complete the transaction, an email will be sent to you with a username and a password to download your files.

First, check your junk mail folder. Often the username and password email will end up there.

If you used PayPal, check PayPal for your primary email address. The username and password is sent to this address.

The Japanese characters are not showing correctly on my iPod

This seems to happen in rare cases. Here is a solution.
  1. Before you unzip the folder and/or import the files into your mp3 player program: In the language settings of your control panel, you must set your computer to use Japanese encoding for all non-Unicode programs.

  2. Most times, your computer will probably require you to have Japanese/Asian characters installed in your computer as well.

  3. After unzipping the folder and importing all files into your mp3 player program, you can reset all of your computer`s language/encoding settings back to their original settings - all audio will remain visible, correct, and functional.

My audio files have strange filenames when viewed on a Apple Mac

This has happened to a few users. Here is a solution.
  1. Unzip on a NON-Japanese PC with Japanese enabled.
  2. Load into iTunes.
  3. Convert files to use ID3 2.4 tags.
  4. Copy to external hard disk drive.
  5. Plug into Mac.
  6. Import file into iTunes 7.5.

Whose voices are used for the recordings?

The audio has been recorded by professional voice artists.

The artists for the JLPT levels 1, 2 3 and 4 (shuffle) are Ross Douglas (Avenue Music, Microsoft, Sierra, NHK) and Maika UTSUGI (Docomo, FM Bird).
